"My body is my journal and my tattoos are my story"

- Johnny Depp

I couldn't agree more with the "Pirate of the Caribbean". Expression of my emotion is very important to me. Art, music, dance, writing are ways of expressing myself. But it was 2018, when I found this new way of using my body as the canvas to display art in the form of tattoos. I had always admired tattoos but the truth is I am petrified of needles. Getting inked involves a process of injecting the ink into your epidermis and the needle essentially is penetrated and moved across the lines and areas that need to be "outlined" or "colored". I overcame my fear and till date have got ten tattoos that I am proud of.

I am writing a chronological record of the tattoos I got below. I chose today as the day to begin my blog as I am a worshipper of Lord Shiva and I fast on Mondays for him. My tattoo journey began with "Shiva" as well.

Tattoo #5

It says "ma pa".. My life, my parents and the wings signify the freedom they have given me. I am what I am because of them. And it's near my heart. Mera dil unke liye, unki wajah se dhadakta hai. I owe everything to them. They come before GOD to me... Mumma papa. :)

Tattoo #7

Poornamida poornamidam.. Shloka from Isha Upanishad. My favourite sanskrit shloka from the upanishad for the common man.

Aum! That is infinite, and this (universe) is infinite.

The infinite proceeds from the infinite.

(Then) taking the infinitude of the infinite (universe),

It remains as the infinite alone.

Aum! Peace! Peace! Peace!

Tattoo count in double digits! Tattoo day, got three. :)

Tattoo #8

Karma.. I am a karma yogi, karma karte jao fal ki icchha kiye bina. Long term goal in head, work with full dedication with detachment from the need to win, and reach the goal. The journey is more important than the destination.

Tattoo #9

Free birds! Freedom. From all, shackles. Not a slave of money, corporate, relationships :p

Tattoo #10

Anchor with a heart! Grounded, strong, anchored in my culture and values. I value strong, thorough foundations but complimented with love and care. #inkedgirls #inked #tentattoos #ilovetattoos #tattoo #tattoos #karma #karmatattoo #freebirdstattoo

Well, my mother will kill me when she reads this but I plan to get more tattoos. Similar to the above ten, they are in the conceptualization phase much before they see the light of the day.
